Make a manual exposure of a person using diffused or north facing light (i.e. on a cloudy or rainy day). You can use window light or select and area outside.

Under expose by 1,2,3 stops from your original exposure and make images for each exposure (watch your background tones and colours! 4 Images).

Find a manmade light source that has colour and some power (note - fairy lights are too dim!) examples of this could be street lights, shop lights, security lights, traffic lights, car headlights (both front and rear), torches etc. Shoot a subject using just these light sources (up to 4 images).

Using your pop-up flash (or a speedlight in ttl mode) set your camera aperture to F22. Focus close in (1 metre) from your subject Firstly, make a manual exposure with a person in low light with the shutter set at 1/30, then increase the shutter speed until you reach the maximum speed (around 1/200 sec for Canon) your dslr will allow (google the maximum flash speed for your camera make and model if you don’t already know). Note mirrorless cameras will shoot at all shutter speeds (3 images).

Using your pop-up flash (or a speedlight in ttl mode) in low light, set your camera aperture to F4. Focus around 3 metres from your subject and make an image - Note the difference between the wider aperture F4 and the smaller aperture F22? What can you shoot at wider aperture than smaller ones when using flash? Note this on your blog (1 images).

Using your pop-up flash (or a speedlight in ttl mode) in low light, set your camera aperture to F4. Focus around 2 metres from your subject and shoot using slow shutter speeds (between 1/30 and ½ second). Do the same using an aperture of F22. You can also shoot whilst moving using the faster shutter speed of 1/30) - Experiment and note you findings on your blogs (up to 4 images).
